Community House is a 3-storey residential building that will host the families of two close friends in a 480 m2 site in Papagos, an area with a vivid suburban character, even if it’s located in close proximity to Athens downtown. Each family has defined their own needs regarding the size of the house, the indoor and outdoor spaces and, of course, their interrelations. By combining the families’ demands, but also taking into account all the arising variances, our team was led to the main concept of “community”.
The different allocation of each house’s spaces safeguards the privacy, while the communal nature of this project is based on each level’s interconnected green areas. Flights of stairs connect the courtyard with the green terrace on the 1st level and the balcony on the 2nd level with the roof garden, which is the main meeting point for all the dwellers. There they can enjoy outdoor activities; work out, cook and dine together, an open-air movie night, but most importantly, appreciate the panoramic view.
